There are some weddings that stay with you long after the final dance, and Lauren and Sam’s celebration earlier this April at Thirsk Lodge Barns was exactly that. For me, this was a heartwarming reunion, keep reading to find out why!

A Masterclass in Detail

This day held an extra layer of meaning because I’ve known Lauren for a long time through my teaching career. She is a phenomenal friend, a gifted tutor, and a brilliant graphic designer, and her talent was on full display.

Lauren poured her heart into every detail, though they felt far from small. From the bespoke welcome signs to the intricate table placements, she designed it all. She even spent her wedding morning ensuring every tie was perfectly straight and every gift was positioned for its optimum look, a true testament to her eye for perfection.

A Heart warming Reunion

I've been looking forward to this wedding for a long time, as I heard there was potentially going to be some special guests and there certainly was ! Walking into a room and seeing four of my past and present brides all in one place was incredibly moving. Being surrounded by so many friendly faces who truly value my craft made the atmosphere feel like a gathering of old friends. It is a rare and special thing to feel that level of connection and support while doing what I love, but seeing Holly, Christy and Noreen and so many friendly faces was truely a first for me. Time will tell if this can be topped by a future wedding !

The Perfect Backdrop

Returning to Thirsk Lodge Barns is always a treat. It’s a venue I’ve come to know well, and it never fails to provide the most stunning, rustic backdrop for a film.

Working alongside Eve from TWE Imagery again was a total joy. There is a specific art to making group photos feel relaxed, and Eve masters it every time. When the photography is that natural and easy-going, it translates beautifully into video, allowing me to capture the genuine laughter and unforced moments that make a wedding film feel alive.

As the day unfolded, the atmosphere was perfectly set by the soulful sounds of Georgie Harrison, whose live vocals added such a sophisticated layer to the morning. It really complemented the morning's energy while Rebecca Asquith and Arianna Bowler worked their magic on the bridal party. Seeing everyone come together in the bridal suite, with Lauren’s signature design touches everywhere you looked, felt like the perfect start to the celebrations.

The transition from the ceremony to the reception was seamless, helped by the wonderful team at Blues Catering who kept everyone well-fed with incredible food. One of my favourite parts of the evening was the shift in energy when Greedy Ted’s pulled up; there is something about a pizza van that brings out the best, most relaxed smiles in people, and it made for some fantastic candid footage.

A Night to Remember

As the sun began to set over the Yorkshire countryside, the barn transformed. The floral arrangements from Love Lily looked spectacular under the glow of the Crafty Neon signage, creating a vibe that was both elegant and modern.

It wasn’t just about the aesthetics, though; it was about the experience. Whether it was guests piling into The Instant Photobooth or the little ones being expertly looked after by Sara Garner, every detail was handled with so much care. By the time Barratts Disco took over and the dancefloor filled up, it was clear that Lauren and Sam had planned a day that wasn’t just beautiful to look at, but an absolute joy to be a part of.

The Dream Team

A day this beautiful is always a collaborative effort. It was a pleasure to work alongside such a talented group of suppliers:
