A Wedding Venue Just Outside York

Set just outside York and surrounded by lakes and open countryside, Sandburn Hall has a calm atmosphere that makes it perfect for celebrations like a wedding.

As a wedding videographer, venues like this are always a pleasure to return to. The Grand Hall, with its oak beams and huge windows, create a beautiful setting for ceremonies and evening celebrations, while the landscape around the venue provides the perfect backdrop for quieter moments during the day. As the light drops in the evening, the views across the lakes often produce some incredible sunsets, something that always adds an extra moment to the end of the celebrations.

From having my own wedding there in 2022 and from filming a number of weddings at Sandburn Hall over the years, every wedding brings its own personality and style, shaped by the couple, the guests and the atmosphere they create together.
Filming Weddings at Sandburn Hall

It's a great honour to be one of Sandburn Hall's recommended suppliers for wedding videography. This is one of my favourite venue's because it offers a variety of spaces throughout the day without ever feeling complicated or rushed, for video and photo, this is great!

Bridal Prep is often in the gorgeous hotel to the right, which offers two large bridal suits 'The York" and "the Alderney", both are modern with a rustic nod, the main features from a 'getting ready' perspective, are that the rooms are sectioned perfectly so there is space at one side for hair and the opposite side for make up while the middle can be for chilling and chatting. These rooms also have a balcony set away from where guests might be arriving, so very little chance you will be spotted. If you want even more space there is a stand alone conference room you can hire on site here or if you want a whole lodge, you should check out the lodges at "Griffon Forest" also part of Sandburn hall, these lodges have rooms for sleeping, kitchen, sitting room, oh .... and hot tubs.
During the drinks reception guests often spend time outside enjoying the lakeside views and open surroundings. These quieter moments give space for natural interactions between family and friends, something that always adds a lot of authenticity to a wedding film.
Inside the Grand Hall the atmosphere builds as the day progresses. The ceremony feels warm and intimate, the wedding breakfast brings together speeches and laughter, and later in the evening the space transforms again as the dance floor fills and the celebrations really begin.
That shift in atmosphere across the day makes the final film feel rich and varied while still telling the story of the celebration naturally. It's hard to put the words on page to explain how the grand hall changes throughout the day so hopefully this video helps show it
